Neil Armstrong- died on saturday aged 82 following complications resulting to cardiovascular procedures. Astronaut Neil Armstrong was the very first man to walk on the moon. he was the commander of the Apollo 11 Spacecraft that landed on the moon in july 20,1969. Upon taking his first step to the moon, he said "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

Armstrong and fellow astronaut Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking around the moon surface, collecting samples, conducting experiments and taking photographs. from 1969 - 1972,there are 12 americans who walked on the moon.

Armstrong was Aug. 5, 1930, on the farm in Ohio. He took his first airplane ride at the age of 6 and created an adoration for aviation that prompted him to develop model airplanes and conduct experiments in the homemade wind tunnel.he work in a pharmacy and took flying lessons. He was licensed to fly at 16, before he got his driver's license. Armstrong studied in purdue university taking aeronautical engineering and after he finished his degree,he later earned a master's degree in aerospace engineering from the university of southern california. he became a test pilot and flying more than 200 kinds of aircraft from gliders to jets.

From 1982 to 1992, Armstrong was chairman of Charlottesville, Va.-based Computing Technologies for Aviation Inc., a business that supplies computer information management systems for business aircraft.

Armstrong married Carol Knight in 1999,and they lived in Indian Hill, a Cincinnati suburb. He had two adult sons from his previous marriage.

A statement of his family on Saturday that designed a simple request for anyone that desired to remember him.

"Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."
